Shalae Hesselbein is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (8355-C). She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2017. Shalae has completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Shalae seeks to first empower her clients to harness their inherent strengths so they can grow to empower themselves. She views each client as the expert on their own life and seeks to work alongside them to design, implement and constantly evaluate the pathway to follow for treatment. Shalae has extensive training and experience working with children, adolescents, and adults. While her professional background has allowed her to work with a diverse range of needs, traumatic stress is Shalae’s primary clinical focus. Shalae aims to provide a safe, loving space that is empty of judgment and full of hope. When working with children, Shalae implements a child-centered and family-focused approach, which aims to help the child heal while also supporting their caregivers and helping the family unit to grow closer together. She is familiar with the system that serves children who have experienced abuse and is also able to address problematic sexual behaviors in children. Shalae also enjoys working with couples who want to learn together and grow closer. Shalae offers a safe, welcoming space for clients within the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as cultural minority clients.
Shalae resides in Central Arkansas with her partner, child, and too many pets. Outside of work, Shalae enjoys staying up to date with all of the trendy shows, reading, painting, going on walks and taking car rides with the windows down.
