Madison Slinkard offers EMDR and Family Intensives

Why choose intensive work?

  • EMDR and Family Intensives are personalized treatment plans designed to support your preferred
schedule and timeline for your treatment goals.
  • Perhaps you have had a felt sense that something profound has yet to change, but you’re
not quite sure how to shift all the way into a new experience of yourself. Maybe you now
cognitively understand new things, yet your body is still confused, so you’re curious
about how intensive EMDR therapy can help as you work with your primary talk
  • Perhaps you’re needing help —- and a lot of it—- right now, and you don’t want to spend
months in the traditional weekly model of therapy treatment to feel better.
  • Perhaps you are a current, weekly client who needs extra, focused support quickly.
  • Perhaps you are a new client who just prefers to work intensively.

The research:

  • Intensive application of trauma-focused therapy seems to be well tolerated in patients
with PTSD, enabling faster symptom reduction with similar, or even better, results, while
reducing the risk that patients drop out prematurely. Learn more here and here.
  • The economy is compelling: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format
may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning
of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and
coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing, or d) assisting the client in
regaining composure at the end of the session. Learn more here.
  • Keep in mind that I will never promise complete healing or a 360-degree transformation
through any of these intensive programs. Healing takes time. The research, however, does
indicate that the EMDR intensive format has a lot of science backing up its efficacy and

I offer a two-day intensive; each day will be four hours
long with a couple of 15-minute breaks. One of the four hours will be covered by insurance if
you have an insurance plan that I accept. The other three hours will be cash pay– $175/hour.
This will equate to a total out of pocket cost of $1,050 plus whatever your copay is. You will be
expected to attend one-hour long intake session with me prior to your intensive, so that we do not
have to spend time getting to know each other during our intensive time. The intake will be
covered by insurance if you have an insurance plan that I accept.
